PSL Top 10 Run Scorers List

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is the top T20 tournament in the country and each year, it’s been getting bigger and better. As we’re writing this, it’s the build up to the PSL 2024 season which is the ninth edition of the tournament. We know that records tumble every year and we thought of listing down some of the record holders in the PSL history so far, beginning with the top run scorers in PSL tournament history…

While some excel in the field and others with the ball, this article is dedicated to the top batters in the history of the Pakistan Super League. We’ll update this PSL top run scorers list as time passes. So keep reading for our list of the top 10 PSL T20 run scorers of all-time, last updated as of 12th Feb 2024, before the PSL 9 season began. 5) Kamran Akmal

He may have not had the best of records in international cricket but wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal is one of the iconic players in PSL history. Having played all his career for Peshawar Zalmi, Akmal is the only person in the history of the league to score three PSL centuries! He’s got 1,972 runs in 75 PSL games with a top score of 107* and 12 fifties to go with them.

4) Mohammad Rizwan

One of Pakistan’s most loved cricketers across formats right now is wicket-keeper batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, who has 1,996 runs in 71 matches in the PSL since inception in 2016. On this PSL most runs list, he and Babar Azam are the only two players with batting averages of 40+, while his records include 16 fifties and a century. Overall, he’s played for three PSL teams – Karachi, Lahore, and Multan.

3) Shoaib Malik

He’s one of the few cricketers in the world to have 10,000+ T20 runs and it’s no surprise to see the veteran Shoaib Malik in this list. He’s been around since nearly two decades and the runs still keep coming from this willow. Having played for multiple PSL teams over the years including Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, and Peshawar Zalmi, Malik accumulated 2,082 runs in 81 PSL games with 14 PSL fifties and a best score of 73!

2) Fakhar Zaman

One of the most explosive batsmen coming from this country, Fakhar Zaman is a regular part of the national set up in white ball cricket and it’s safe to say that he’s a T20 specialist. He’s represented Lahore Qalandars in all his seasons of PSL so far, having joined the league in 2017. With 2,368 runs in 76 career PSL matches including 18 fifties and 2 centuries, he and Rilee Rossouw are the only ones on the PSL run scorers list to have PSL career strike rates of 140+.

1) Babar Azam

No surprise or shock to see one of Pakistan’s leading lights topping this list. Having gone from Islamabad United to Karachi Kings to Peshawar over the years in the PSL, Babar is amazingly consistent in the PSL with a record 28 fifties in only 79 PSL games which has amounted to as many as 2,935 runs with an outstanding average of 43.80 in the tournament. The players trailing him on this list are unlikely to catch up with him on this chart for at least 3-4 seasons to come.

In the PSL top 10 run scorers list, only two non-Pakistani players feature and those are Rilee Rossouw and Shane Watson. Narrowly missing out on the list are Asif Ali (1,130 runs), Sharjeel Khan (1,127 runs), and Colin Munro (1,091 runs).
