Today we’re going to be talking about the oldest T20 league in the world. England’s premier domestic T20 tournament, the league has gone through several name changes for sponsorship reasons, from the English T20 Cup to Friend’s Provident T20 to Friend’s Life T20 to Natwest T20 Blast and to its current name which is the Vitality T20 Blast.
From humble beginnings in 2003, the T20 tournament has grown to become super popular over the years and couple of decades. All of England’s regional teams get together and battle it out each year, with a good mix of local players and the top international stars as well. And while some teams have done brilliantly, others are still struggling and trying to find success in the England Vitality T20 Blast.
The tournament follows a divisional group stage format, where teams play in their own groups before playing to the T20 Blast knockout stages. The tournament is usually played in the May-August time slot every year, to attract the most amount of crowds during the summer vacations period in the country. Today, we’re listing down all the T20 Blast winners from start till date, last updated as of 8th May 2023.

Quite a few counties have even won the T20 Blast title on a couple of occasions, including Kent, Northamptonshire, and Nottinghamshire. From all of these teams, Hampshire holds the record for the most number of T20 Blast semi finals stage and beyond appearances, making it to the semi final on eight occasions, including six consecutive times between 2010 – 2015. Quite a statistic, isn’t it?!
Among the individuals who have performed in the T20 Blast Finals, there’s one player who has written his name down in this tournament’s rich history. Only one player has gone on to win the Man of the Match award in two different finals and that’s Josh Cobb having won this award in the 2011 and 2016 finals, representing Leicestershire and Northants respectively in those finals.
