10 Milestones That can be Reached in IPL 2020

Every year, players return with a fresh vigour and enthusiasm when they approach the annual Indian Premier League (IPL). Each year, some records go tumbling, both personal as well as team records and milestones. This year, it’s been a very long wait for players as well as fans as the coronavirus break meant IPL 2020 was pushed back a few months, now scheduled between 19 Sep – 10 Nov 2020!

Milestones to be passed in IPL 2020

We can expect plenty more milestones to be passed this year as well, since everyone’s going to hit the season after a few months away from the game. Read Scoops went on to put up a lit of such records and milestones that are likely to be completed some time during the IPL 2020 season, and you can keep reading for that complete list…

1) First to 200 IPL games

Having missed a few games in the last couple of seasons, Suresh Raina went on to pass MS Dhoni as the most capped player in the history of the Indian premier League. However, Suresh Raina recently announced that he won’t be available for IPL 2020, only to later announce he may feature in the tournament. Currently, he is the most capped IPL player with 193 games to his name while MS Dhoni is behind him at 190 games, so it’ll be a race to 200 but we think captain cool may be the first to get there!

2) First to 6,000 IPL Runs

When you talk about runs in any format of the game, you have to talk about Indian captain Virat Kohli. Though Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is still struggling to win first IPL title, Kohli has excelled personally and is the highest all-time scorer in the IPL with 5,412 runs over the years. He’s 588 runs short of becoming the first to that magical 6k figure and we can’t put it past him as he’s scored 500+ runs in a season on 5 different occasions (557 runs in IPL 2011, 634 runs in IPL 2013, 505 runs in IPL 2015, 973 runs in IPL 2016, 530 runs in IPL 2018)!

3) 100 IPL victories

This one isn’t a personal milestone but a team one! So far, only two teams in the history of the IPL have crossed 100 victories each and those are Mumbai Indians (107 wins) and Chennai Super Kings (100 wins). Surprisingly, CSK got there second even though they missed two entire seasons of the IPL between 2016 and 2017! Now, Kolkata Knight Riders are the closest to reaching the 100-win club after MI and CSK with 92 wins in 178 games. They need 8 wins in IPL 2020 to reach that historic milestone!

4) 50 IPL Fifties

No batsman has ever score 50 fifties in the Indian Premier League but David Warner is very close to becoming the first to do so. He’s leading the charts right now with 48 career IPL fifties in just 126 matches, which is a magnificent conversion rate of a fifty every 2.7 innings! With 41 fifties in 177 innings, Virat Kohli is the closest to him and it’ll take a gargantuan effort to reach this milestone before Warner does. In IPL 2019, Warner won the Orange Cap award for most runs in the season – 692 runs – and we expect him to keep the runs flowing this season too!

5) Most ducks in IPL history

Honestly speaking, there are quite a few candidates for this one! Currently tied at the top of the list of most ducks in IPL history with 13 ducks each are Harbhajan Singh and Parthiv Patel. With Bhajji ruling himself out of IPL 2020, Parthiv has every chance of going to the top of this unwanted list! In IPL 2019, Patel scored 373 runs in 14 games for RCB. For this record though, he has competition as many are tied at 12 IPL ducks – Piyush Chawla, Manish Pandey, Ambati Rayudu, Gautam Gambhir (no longer playing) and Rohit Sharma!
