WATCH: Massive Fire Near Andheri’s Chitrakoot Grounds

At around 4pm on the afternoon of Friday, 29th July 2022, a massive fire broke out in Mumbai’s Andheri suburb. For those who know the area, the fire happened near Chitrakoot grounds in Mumbai’s Andheri West. It’s believed that the fire came from the Chitrakoot Studio area, and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

As many as ten fire engines were rushed to the spot immediately as the fire began to get a little out of control and black fumes could be seen from miles away as well. Two water tanks were also rushed to the location and fire fighting operations are underway as we type this. It was a level 2 fire which was seen near Star Bazaar, behind the Andheri Sports Complex ground.

Fire at Andheri’s Chitrakoot Studio

It is said that the fire originated from a shop of over 1000 square feet area, which is quite massive and hence the fire has caused such a  ruckus. While no casualties have been reported yet, we’ll have more details when the fire fighting operations are complete. Mumbai Police confirmed that traffic is being diverted from Veera Desai (Andheri West) right now because of the fire.

A leading source online confirmed that the fire was from a warehouse covering a massive area. Level 2 fire reported in Andheri West area, near star Bazar on link road around 4.30 pm. 10 fire-fighting vehicles rushed to spot. Fire is reportedly at a shop of 1000 sq ft area. No injured persons reported yet,” confirmed the Mumbai Fire Brigade.

Apart from news and media houses, a number of users in and around the Andheri area have put up videos of the fire and well wishers are also hoping everything is alright, as the fire is quite a big one. The fire is sure to have consumed the entire floor if not brought down the roof of the establishment it’s in. We hope all is okay and no one is injured in the process.

Just before the fire was confirmed, traffic started piling up in the area. That’s when Mumbai Police tweeted saying, “Vehicular movement is slow at Lotus junction. Our traffic police personnel are at location to ease the traffic.However, we request you to use an alternative route #MTPTrafficUpdates”

Once confirmed, they urged road users to not use the route. They tweeted again at around 5:15pm today saying, “Vehicular movement has been diverted from Vira Desai road via Dattaji Salvi road to IOC, Chitrakoot to IOC (direct) due to fire. Fortyard to Chitrakoot north and south bound road is closed.”
