You all obviously know that illegal gambling activities in the country are dealt with very seriously. We at Read Scoops know that too, and yet we’re shocked at the number of times we find news reports of people being arrested in different parts of the country after being found guilty in gambling busts and raids. The same recently happened in the Jalore district of Rajasthan.
On Sunday 3 Oct 2021, the CID-CB Wing of Jaipur along with the Jalore police conducted a joint operation which saw one of the biggest gambling busts in the history of the state of Rajasthan. This includes the arrest of 45 persons in a hotel situated in Sanchore town in the Jalore district. Apart from people being arrested, assets amounting to huge values were also confiscated at the spot.

We’re talking about possessions worth 34.55 Lakh which makes this one of the biggest illegal gambling busts in terms of assets seized. As per reports, the authorities also seized 20 vehicles which belonged to the gamblers present at the hotel while it’s said that around 5 of them also sustained injuries while trying to escape from the staircase of the hotel.
Ravi Prakash Meharda, additional director general (crime) said that a team of CID-CB had kept surveillance and vigilance on such acts of illegal gambling. What game was being played at the spot, we don’t know as yet but we can imagine it involved illegal gambling in IPL 2021 matches, as Sundays always have double games in this tournament.
“We were getting inputs that some people from Gujarat are coming to Jalore. Many hotels in Jalore facilitate these gamblers by overcharging. Thus, based on the specific input our team with the local police raided into the hotel Amar Palace and found that some persons were gambling in conventional way having dice, numbers and other things,” said Pushpendra Singh, Dy SP CID-CB who led the operation.
