If you are a follower of political news from the small state of Goa in India, you will know about the famous Michael Lobo who is Science and Technology Minister as well as a Calangute MLA. A recent news update has now come in that his wife, Delilah Lobo, is keen to cotnest the upcoming 2022 polls through a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.
Michael expressed is wife’s interest to do so for the upcoming state assembly elections and that she will put the same in writing before the party, to contest the elections either from Siolim or Saligao. Currently, Delilah is sarpanch of Parra and she’s also the vice-president of BJP’s Mahila Morcha. She’s been actively involved in politics for 15 years now, including 5 years as pancha and 10 as sarpanch now.

Lobo mentioned that his wife understands grassroots politics and that this isn’t the first time she’s shown interest in contesting the elections. Back in 2017, she wanted to do so from Saligao as the tourism minister Dilip Parulekar was a ‘weak candidate’ at the time. However, he mentioned that the former late CM Manohar Parrikar himself came home and requested her not to contest the elections.
Lobo also mentioned that he and his wife Delilah are working day and night for the people of Goa. The assembly elections are around 7 months away from today and campaigning will begin soon, so it will be interesting to see how the Lobo family goes about the same. If denied a ticket by BJP, will Delilah stand as an independent candidate?
