China Lays Claim to Galwan Valley

Are we seeing foreign countries taking advantage of India when it’s in a bad situation? While our country seems to be figuring out ways to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, we’re noticing neighbours trying to stake claim on parts of our territory. And that’s what happened when China decided to claim a part of Ladakh. On Friday, their foreign ministry claimed that the Valley was on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called an all-party meeting regarding the same. “Neither anyone has intruded into our territory nor taken over any post. Our forces are doing what they have to do to protect the country, whether it is deployment, action or counter-action. Our patrolling capacity has increased due to newly built infrastructure, especially along LAC,” he told members of the meeting.

While Modi said that India desired peace and friendship, ‘sovereignty is most important’. However, the Congress party feared that Modi has given in to the Chinese aggression in the area, clearing them of any wrongdoings. A few minutes back, Rahul Gandhi also took to Twitter to up the ante, saying Indian territory was surrendered to China.

The tensions are rising and live updates are coming in from morning. Rahul Gandhi did raise a fair point that i there was indeed nothing wrong, why were our soldiers martyred in the region?! “Genuinely worried at PM’s certificate that China has not crossed LAC! Hopefully not premature? Should not match China’s stand which says same thing! If such a serious skirmish with huge loss of Indian (and possibly Chinese) casualties, how can there be no transgression by China?” asked Abhishek Singhvi, national spokesperson of the Congress.

There were some important remarks from Sonia Gandhi as well, who said, “This meeting, in my view, should have come sooner and immediately after the government had been reportedly informed about the Chinese intrusion on May 5th, 2020 into several places in Ladakh and elsewhere. As always, the entire nation would have stood together like a rock and fully supported the government of the day in the steps required to defend the territorial integrity of the country. Alas, that was not to be.”

“Security scenario in our region mandates that our Armed Forces remain prepared and vigilant at all times,” said RKS Bhadauria Air Chief Marshal, saying that India is prepared and suitably deployed in case of any contingencies. China is now also wooing Nepal and Bangladesh to lay claim on Indian territory. For all updates on what’s happening on the Indo-China front, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com
