Amar Singh Passes Away in Singapore

Until recently, you can say he was one of the most influential and powerful politicians in India, was Amar Singh. The former Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament born on 27 January 1956 was 64 years old and he breathed his last earlier today, passing away after prolonged illness!

As per reports, Singh was battling illness for a long time and had been hospitalized for quite a while in Singapore. It was in 2015 that he first spotted these issues, being rushed to the New Delhi’s Fortis Hospital after complaining of uneasiness and pain. While we aren’t sure of the exact details as yet, the news has been confirmed.

The former MP had also done a successful kidney transplant recently and it was well known that he was having health-related issues since a few years now. News came in yesterday that he was ailing and critical in Singapore and earlier today, it was news anchor Rajdeep Sardesai who went on to post the news on Twitter. See here:

Social media has been buzzing since the tweet went up a few minutes ago. There have been mixed emotions and replies from netizens, some taking it as good riddance and some grieving the moment. The fact is that he was a powerful leader and that his presence will be missed in Indian politics.

Amar Singh was the former general secretary of the Samajwadi Party, and was very close Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was the party founder.
