The much awaited official trailer for The Batman (2021) has gone live on YouTube earlier today. The Batman film franchise has been going on since decades and this is the first movie featuring this DC superhero since Justice League (2017), as part of the DC Extended Universe project. For standalone Batman films though, the last series was The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005–2012) which saw Christian Bale starring as the superhero.
It was Ben Affleck who starred as Batman in the batman vs Superman movie of 2016 and while he was expected to be a part of this latest batman series of movies, he dropped out in early 2019 and subsequently, the Twilight fame Robert Pattinson was signed to play the role of Bruce Wayne the billionaire, who is also secretly Batman.

There was plenty of debate about whether someone like Pattinson could do justice to a role like Batman and the first box has been ticked, as he seems to suit the role in the official trailer, which was published on YouTube earlier this morning, on 23rd August 2020, by IGN. The video went on to get over a million views in a matter of a few hours:
This was just the first look of the film which still needs plenty of production work to be done and we’re expecting this Action/Crime/Drama film to be released by October 2021. The movie stars Batman and a number of villains including Zoë Kravitz (Catwoman), Colin Farrell (The Penguin) and Paul Dano (The Riddler).
The film is directed by Matt Reeves and it portrays a younger version of Batman, focussing more of the detective aspect of the superhero, with Pattinson looking for vengeance and still settling into the superhero role.
