Entertainment and OTT giant Amazon is going to soon change the prices / fees of their Amazon Prime Video subscriptions. The company hasn’t given as official statement or date about the same, but it has been confirmed on their official website. The e-commerce leader has asserted this will ‘happen soon’.
As per the new pricing system, Amazon Prime will be available for Rs.179 monthly as compared to the current pricing of Rs.129/month. Those wanting to go in or their annual subscriptions will be required to pay Rs.1,499, which is currently at Rs.999/month. This is nothing but a direct 50% hike in fees. There is going to be a quarterly plan too, which will cost Rs.459, which is currently at Rs.329/month.
Amazon Prime has confirmed on the website that they won’t be charging extra on those users who have exiting plans in place, but will directly charge the for the next membership period once the free trial or membership period ends. They also mentioned that those who joined Prime as part of a telecom plan will soon see an uptick in the pricing as well.

“Existing Prime members can continue their membership for the duration their membership plan is at the current price. However, after the price change, you can choose to renew your membership at the new price,” said the company. The membership includes not just video content but also shopping deals and savings, and that along with continuously value addition is the major reason for an upgrade in pricing.
