Over the last year and more, a more lineup of known actors, actresses and other celebrities have passed away and today, we regret to inform you the loss of yet another very talented artist from the industry. Known most popularly for her role in TV serial Balika Vadhu, actress Surekha Sikri has passed away in Mumbai at the age of 75 years.
As per her manager, the actress had been unwell for several months now and even suffered a brain stroke in 2018. The 3-time National Award-winning actress made her debut many decades back in 1978 with Kissa Kursi Ka, and more recently was known for her role in Badhaai Ho. She passed away of a cardiac arrest after complications arising from the second stroke.
While she was known for her role in Balika Vadhu, she won her national awards for Best Supporting Role in Tamas (1988), Mammo (1995) and Badhaai Ho (2018), the latter being somewhat a rebirth to her acting career. She was last seen in director Zoya Akhtar’s 2020 film Ghost Stories which aired exclusively on Netflix.

“Three-time national award winning actress, Surekha Sikri has passed away following a cardiac arrest earlier this morning at the age of 75. She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke. She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time. Om Sai Ram,” said her manager.
During a shoot in Mahabaleshwar in 2018, it is said that the actress fell in the bathroom and hit her head, which led to a brain stroke. She gave an interview in 2019 saying she was recovering from the stroke for 9-10 months and wasn’t able to focus on work because of the same.
