We’re very used to seeing announcements of relationships being made on social media, be that in our own friends circles or among the world of sports and Bollywood and everywhere else. But the most recent combination of cricket+Bollywood has sent social media into a tizzy as a very unlikely relationship has been announced, one which most people are unable to digest as yet.
It was former Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Lalit Modi who took the bold step of announcing his relationship on social media, with a series of tweets about the same. He posted a number of pictures saying that he’s back in London after a global tour with the family and his ‘better looking partner’ who is a model and Bollywood actress, Sushmita Sen.

Over the moon. 🥰😘😍😍🥰💕💞💖💘💓. In love does not mean marriage YET. BUT ONE THAT For sure,” said Lalit Kumar Modi’s tweet to announce his new relationship.
Modi has been living in London ever since he was sacked as IPL Chairman and he’s been a very controversial entity over the years, in and out of legal proceedings. As for Sushmita, she’s one of the most loved Indian actresses, known for coming into the limelight after she was crowned Miss Universe all the way back in 1994.

Social media had a number of memes and trolls once Modi put up these tweets. A lot of users were actually in disbelief when they first heard about the same and we’re still asking a question because there hasn’t been any confirmation from Sushmita herself. Since then, old posts are going viral like one of Lalit’s from 9 years ago, where he’s tweeted to Sushmita saying, “Reply my sms”.

What’s funnier is that Modi actually tagged @sushmitasen47 which is not the original and verified one, but a parody account of Sushmita Sen. This caused a further uproar and sense of disbelief among netizens. However, the images shared are pretty cozy and mushy ones, so it’s highly unlikely that these could be only claims from the former IPL boss.
He added another tweet after the first one, saying they’re just dating and not married YET. “Just for clarity. Not married – just dating each other. That too it will happen one day. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾” He’s clearly expressed his intentions to marry her some day as well. Modi’s 28-year old son also commented on this, saying, “It’s his life and his decision.”

On the other hand, Sushmita Sen’s brother Rajeev Sen also commented on the same, but not confirming anything. He said, “I actually have no clue about this. I’m pleasantly surprised. My sister is yet to confirm this from her end, so I can’t comment as of now.” Sushmita posted an image on Instagram after becoming the talk of town. The caption was, “I am in a happy place. NOT MARRIED…NO RINGS. Just unconditionally surrounded by love.”
