A few weeks back, someone from our team bought a new phone and had his sim cards switched to the new phone. However, when he went back to the old device for something, he noticed he was logged out of WhatsApp. Similarly, those who use multiple mobiles couldn’t check the same IM account for WhatsApp across devices, much like you can for Telegram, Email and other IM applications.
However, little did he know that this was all going to change in no time. It was in June 2020 that we spoke about WhatsApp allowing contacts to be added using QR codes. In that article, we also reported that another feature for linking multiple devices being tested by the leading messaging application. Now, that idea is coming to life!
Multiple WhatsApp accounts on a single device was already possible and now, multi-device support is coming to life soon. A recent beta version of WhatsApp on iOS implemented this feature where users are asked for a registration code. Once enabled, the feature allows users to use the application on multiple devices, with the same account/mobile number.

As usual, WABetaInfo was the first to discover this feature, on WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.19.120.20. Whenever you login to a new device, you can use the existing registration code to login to an existing WhatsApp account. As per the beta version of the app, a pop-up notification also appeared for the user, which looked like this:
Currently WhatsApp can be accessed on multiple desktop devices using WhatsApp Web but using the same account on multiple mobile devices wasn’t possible, until now. As per what we’ve heard, you can link your WhatsApp account to as many as 4 mobile devices at once. Apart from this, the ‘Dark Mode’ of WhatsApp is also expected to roll out soon.
