What would our lives be without WhatsApp? Making its debut a few years back, the social media messaging application is today one of the most important apps in anyone’s phone, with most smartphone companies now providing WhatsApp as an inbuilt app. They have been the undisputed best over the years and it’s their innovations and constant improvements that have enabled them to stay ahead of the competition.
The app, owned by Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook, has rolled out quite a few updates and new features in the last year itself, including the message recall feature, the varying fonts feature, the group calling feature and very recently launching UPI-based payments on its platform in India.
A latest WhatsApp feature has now been spotted in testing – the ‘Forwarded Message‘ feature. In an aim to stop, or at least reduce mass-level spamming on it’s platform, the company has rolled out the forwarded message feature, which will indicate to users that a certain message has been forwarded from another chat, or from within the same chat itself.
The feature is said to have been seen in WhatsApp beta for Android v2.18.67, and that the feature is disabled by default, as reported by WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp update tracker. Along with this, they will be rolling out a feature of enabling time and location stickers within the app.
“WhatsApp has modified the behavior of the feature (as already announced in the Android 2.18.67 changelog), that will show on the bubble a Forwarded message string, if the message has been forwarded from another chat (or from the same chat),” said a blog on the WABetaInfo website in February.
We all hate receiving unnecessary forwarded texts, images and videos that just eat away our phone memory. Hopefully, this update will considerably reduce unwanted spam that is regularly circulated on the messaging app. WhatsApp also recently launched the ‘Group Description’ feature in ]beta for Android and Windows users. However, this feature is enabled by default, unlike the stickers and forwarded message feature. Keep reading ReadScoops.com for further stories on any new WhatsApp updates spotted!
