Being the the most widely used instant messaging smartphone application in the world, WhatsApp has to keep updating their features in order to stay at the top. The Facebook-owned company allows you to stay in touch with friends and family across the world, and has always been a free to use application.
They’re continuously adding new features and the latest one we’ve heard of is the ability to scan QR codes to add new contacts on WhatsApp. The feature is currently available in the WhatsApp beta version for both iOS and Android. In the app’s ‘Settings’ menu, you can find this feature. You can display your own QR code as well as scan other QR codes to add new contacts.
You can revoke your QR code if it gets shared with someone who you don’t want to have your number. This would be especially useful for celebrities and other known personalities. Currently, adding a new WhatsApp is a painful exercise which needs you to add a contact’s number in your phonebook and then refreshing your WhatsApp contact list. This tedious step will then be cut out of the process.

If you are a tester or you want to use this function in the beta version or you even want to check the genuineness of this post, you can sign-up here if you are an Android user and see the QR code option in the app’s settings. However, the testing is reportedly shut for iOS users at this point of time.
This is one of many features that are set to be added to WhatsApp in the near future and while it’s almost confirmed, no date has been decided as of today for this particular feature to go live on the main app. For more updates on this feature as well as other features such as additional video chat members, multiple device support and more, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com…
