Well it’s a day in the sun for all those hundreds of social networks that have cropped up in the last decade but haven’t ever really got any great amount of traffic due to other ‘giants’ in the industry. These giants we’re talking about are FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM. There are many others too, but today, we’re going to talk about only these two.
Why?
Well, simply because of the fact that these two social networking giants have their servers down. I waited before posting about this because I thought it would last just a few minutes. But guess what? It has been 3 hours since I first noticed the issues in the servers and nothing has been resolved just yet.
My friends, if you haven’t got an Instagram like from me on your latest upload, don’t worry. It’s not my fault. It’s theirs. Facebook and Facebook-owned photo-sharing app Instagram are down for millions of users on Wednesday, 13th March. The problem was first noticed at 9am Pacific Time (9:30pm IST) and is yet to be resolved, even 3 hours later (time of writing this).
Well, for business accounts, this could be a real loss. We at Read Scoops also look at posting to our Facebook page as soon as we upload a new blog, but guess what? It’s time for us to post to our Twitter handle, because that’s where everyone’s hanging out ever since the servers are down at Facebook. It gets us to think whether WhatsApp is next, since the messaging app is also owned by Facebook. (Confirmed later than majority users were having issues in sending across media files).
Honestly, I did have some issues sharing photos a while back on WhatsApp, but I just put that down to bad internet. Looks like my WiFi wasn’t that bad after all. Honestly, in over a decade of using Facebook, I don’t reminder the last time I saw the social media network being ‘DOWN’ as it is tonight. I guess there’s always a first.
Solution?
“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” said a Facebook spokesperson in an email. In an era of 24/7 availability, we never really expected this to happen, but we’re trusting Facebook to sort it out soon.
Facebook updated in a couple of hours:
We're focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack.

Wonder if Twitter can handle all the added burden on its server:

The last time Facebook was down, it is reported to have been up again within 40 minutes. Hope this time, it isn’t something serious. For all latest updates on technology and the entire world of social media networking, keep following and supporting ReadScoops.com.
