All across the world, RCB fans had been waiting for the moment they raised the trophy for 18 years. And finally, the moment had arrived as they beat Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final, creating history for them.
And one man who was right in the middle of it was their former captain Virat Kohli who has given them his all, all through 18 years of this franchise. When the moment finally arrived and RCB hit the final nail in the coffin, Kohli sunk to his knees at the boundary line and started crying tears of joy. At the time, one teammate rushed to him first.

Many people came to Virat and hugged him over the next few minutes but the first to do so was his teammate and opening batsman, Swastik Chikara. The 20-year old from Ghaziabad was picked up by Delhi Capitals earlier but made the move to Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the IPL 2025 auction, after a great run in domestic cricket.

He played for Uttar Pradesh in the domestic circuit and has so far played 2 FC games, 4 T20s, and 6 List A games for them. While he’s not got any great numbers there, his performances in the Delhi Premier League are what got him to this level. In the latest DPL competition, he smashed 499 runs in 12 games at an average of 49.9 and an outstanding strike rate of 185.50.

Swastik hasn’t yet played a game for RCB or in the IPL in general, but he’s given a few interviews where he’s mentioned that Virat Kohli is his idol. Since he hasn’t played a game and is probably a part of the team’s future plans, he hasn’t yet got the limelight at the biggest stage. So many people were wondering who hugged Kohli when he first sunk to his knees.

Chikara was at the boundary line where Kohli was fielding as Josh Hazlewood delivered the final ball of the game. After losing the IPL 2009 final by 6 runs, RCB won the IPL 2025 final by 6 runs, and Swastik rushed to his idol and hugged him, getting the most limelight that he has got through the entire season.

Swastik was also seen next to Kohli as the latter lifted the trophy, replicating the Gangnam style dance. In future seasons, we may see Swastik get a chance at the top of the order, if Phil Salt is unavailable, or when Virat finally decides to hang up his boots for RCB.
