There’s not a single person who won’t agree when we say that we’ve witnessed one of the best Wimbledon finals of all time. Wimbledon 2023 is now officially over and the men’s final turned out to be one for the ages – Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic. The game went on to be a 4-set thriller and lasted upwards of 4.5 hours in England, with Alcaraz ending as winner.
Alcaraz has had some great battles with Djokovic before and today, it looked like it wasn’t his day as he lost the first set 1-6, and didn’t trouble his opponent at all. However, he made a fabulous comeback from there as he went on to win the next three sets, in a very physical contest, picking up his second career Grand Slam title, and his first one at the iconic Wimbledon Championships.
Djokovic cries in Wimbledon 2023 presentation
Djokovic has seven previous titles at Wimbledon and it’s areal shame that he did’t go on to win his 8th one here. However, he’ll be very proud of himself because he’s had a great 2023 so far, winning both the Australian Open and Roland Garros slams prior to this loss here. The 36-year old broke down in the post match presentation, after losing to the Spaniard in the fourth set.
He was talking about his opponent and how well Alcaraz and his team has done to ensure he wins at Wimbledon. He then went on to say how he wasn’t too happy, but he would be fine tomorrow morning. He lost at Wimbledon center court after 10 years and 9 days and it could mark the start of a new era as well.

Further in his interview, he went on to look at his box and give a shout out to his eldest son. His wife and children were in attendance and Djokovic pointed out that it’s great to see his son still there, and smiling too. It’s evident that he’s got a lot of love for his family, particularly his oldest son. He looked at him and took a break before talking about, bursting out into tears.

His son smiled when he was spoken about, and clapped along with the rest of the crowd still watching what was happening. When he resumed talking, he said “I love you. Thank you for supporting me and I’ll give you a big hug, and we can all love each other.” He was clearly speechless at that point of time. See the video here:

He’s definitely not done and we won’t be surprised if he’ll be back here reaching the final of Wimbledon 2024 as well, because he’s definitely still one of the best male tennis players in the world, if not the best. He’s got 23 grand slam titles and we’re sure he’ll be adding to that tally soon. For similar sports and tennis news from around the world, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com…
