The American hadn’t made a single Round 4 in a grand slam prior to 2022 and now he has two, also playing in his first ever major quarter final here. That legend is none other than Rafael Nadal and even though he’s been talking about a bad foot and an injury, he seems to be playing perfectly well at Wimbledon 2022. His last two appearance at Wimbledon were in 2018 and 2019 where he made the semi finals in both, and he’s been in great form this year so far. Both the grand slams this year have gone to Nadal and he may be challenged, but will end up victorious; he’s at pre-match odds of 1.37.

Four rounds have been played by Fritz in Wimbledon 2022 so far, and he’s yet to drop a set. His opponents were Lorenzo Musetti, Alastair Gray, Alex Molcan, and Jason Kubler. He negotiated all of them easily, reaching a tie-breaker only twice and winning both of them. The only drawback is that he hasn’t faced a single seeded player this year and this is going to be a sudden steep challenge for him. A 5-set game is up a odds of 3.45 with ComeOn.

Nadal lost a set each in his Round 1 and Round 2 games against Francisco Cerundolo and Ricardas Berankis, where he lost the third set in both matches. However, his games against the seeded players were a breeze as he whipped past number #27 seed Lorenzi Sonego and more recently past number #21 seed Botic van de Zandschulp, in straight sets each. We think Nadal will win this bout but not without Fritz winning a set OR TWO.
Taylor Fritz vs Rafael Nadal – head to head
These two have taken on each other twice in the past with Rafael Nadal emerging victorious in straight sets in Acapulco in 2020 and then Fritz taking revenge when they played the ATP 1000 Indian Wells tournament earlier this year, both wins being straight sets victories. The head-to-head count is at 1-1 and with Fritz having beaten Nadal only recently, the odds could end up being in his favour in this quarter final.
