When there’s a Grand Slam taking place, it’s always a good couple of weeks for sports betting around the world and that’s what it is right now at the 2021 French Open. On 4th June, we’ll have some Round 3 matches in both the men’s as well as women’s tournaments and one of them is this particular contest of Stepanos Tsitsipas vs John Isner.
When you look at it from an experience point of view, Isner has it all including being a part of the longest match in tennis history a few years ago. However, he’s made only one Grand Slam semi final in his professional career which began over a dozen years ago. On the other hand, we have the 22-year old Greek player Tsitsipas, who has made three semi finals in the last 3 years itself.
Seeded #5 in this tournament, Tsitsipas is clear favourite to go on to win this game, as he was a semi finalist even a few months ago at the 2021 Australian Open. An experienced bettor would know it’s useless betting on him pre-match at odds of 1.11 to win on BetWinner. For Isner, his big serve is the only thing that will keep you interested, at 7.2 on BetWinner. If you remember, Tsitsipas wasn’t hitting anything in the middle in his Round 2 game, which may be a good sign for Isner.
2021 French Open so far
Tsitsipas beat Jeremy Chardy and then Pedro Martinez, both in straight sets but as we mentioned above, he hit many balls on the frame of his racquet in the last game and we won’t be surprised if he drops a set or two here. While his results look good on paper, he did struggle, especially in Round 2. While he’s still expected to get through, this is his first battle against a seeded player. Try a 3-1 victory at odds of 3.30 for set betting on BetWinner.

The #31 seed John Isner hasn’t dropped a set either so far in the 2021 French Open, beating Sam Querrey and then Filip Krajinović. He may be slower to move on the court but his serve never let’s him down, which has led to him getting into three tie-breaks so far, winning all. Tsitsipas is likely to have more stamina to grind through a long game but we’d like to see Isner get the first set, at 3.72 on BetWinner.
Tsitsipas vs Isner head to head
Even though there’s a 14-year gap between the two players, they’ve faced off 5 times over the years and Tsitsipas leads those contests, 3-2. In two games in 2017 and 2018, Isner ended victorious while Tsitsipas has won all of the three games that followed in 2019, 2020, 2021, all in straight sets as well. Can Tsitsipas repeat it here again today?!
