French Open 2021 – Tsitsipas vs Carreño Busta Betting Preview

As we move deeper into the 2021 Roland Garros tournament, we’ll find tougher and longer games. In fact, here’s one of the first of those games as two high seeded players clash in a Round 4 match in Paris, France. We have #5 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in action today who has struggled so far but accelerates when most needed and that’s why he’s one of the top ranked players in the ATP circuit at this point of time.

He’s taking on the Spanish 29-year old Pablo Carreño Busta who has been around for sometime now but he’s peaked in performance over the last year and more. Through his career until 2019, he had only one Grand Slam quarter final and one semi final, and he repeated that in 2020 alone last year, and also hand a Round 3 exit in the 2021 Australian Open a few months back. He’s seeded #12 in the 2021 French Open!

Both these pros have been having a good 2021 so far, with Busta having one tour title and Stepanos getting two titles this season. On paper, Tsitsipas is a high favourite, up at odds of 1.17 with BetWinner! However, it’s not going to be such a one-sided contest as the bookmakers would suggest. Odds of 5.25 on Carreño Busta seems slightly tempting but we think the #5 seed may just get him 3-1 or 3-2 in a tight contest.

French Open 2021 - Tsitsipas vs Carreño Busta Betting

2021 French Open so far

Tsitsipas had his first two rounds against unseeded players and while he won in straight sets, you could see him struggling to hit the ball right, and many balls came off his racket frame. In Round 3, he lost the opening set to #31 seed John Isner and a fitter player like Busta may give him a run for his money, so we’re betting on the latter to win the opening set, at odds of 2.97 for Set 1 betting on BetWinner.

After a straight sets win in Round 1, Pablo Carreño Busta lost a set against Frenchman Enzo Couacoud in Round 2, and then got another simple 3-set win in Round 3 against USA’s Steve Johnson. It’s the first time he’s going to be put to the test against a seeded player and while we see him coming on the losing side eventually, we’d recommend set betting, on Tsitsipas to win 3-2 at juicy odds of 5.60 on BetWinner.

These two star players have played each other twice in the past. They played on clay once in Barcelona in 2018 and more recently on a hard court in Dubai in 2020 and so far, the Stefanos vs Carreño Busta head to head count is 2-0 in favour of the Greek player. In both games, he won in straight sets and the Spanish player will be looking today for not just his first match win but his first set against Tsitsipas as well.
