Always a big fan of the tennis, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates was spotted watching some great tennis action today at the 2023 Australian Open final. The American business and tech magnate had prime seats at the Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Novak Djokovic Aus Open 2023 final, where one player was looking to claim his debut grand slam title, while the other was here to get his 10th major title in Australia itself.
Just yesterday, the Aus Open 2023 women’s final was played at Melbourne Park where Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus won her first grand slam title and there, actor Russell Crowe was spotted in the crowd. Today, the 67-year old Bill Gates was in the crowd and he was spotted early on while still in the fourth game of the first set, where Tsitsipas was eventually broken by Djokovic.
Australian Open 2023 – Bill Gates spotted at final
Now while he’s one of the biggest businessmen in the world and one of the richest in the world too, there were quite a lot of negative comments on Twitter and other social media platforms when he was spotted watching the Aus Open 2023 final. This was primarily because the billionaire and health care philanthropist said that no country including Australia aced their Covid-19 pandemic response.
Locals obviously didn’t take those comments too well, especially since he added that there could be a wave of a new virus in Australia soon. The hatred among tennis fans for Gates is even more because Novak Djokovic wasn’t able to play in the 2022 Australian Open because of Covid-19 vaccination rules. Ironic isn’t it, that Gates is now coming to watch an unvaccinated Djokovic play in the final in 2023?

Having said that, Gates has always been a big fan of major tennis tournaments, and it’s not the first time he has been spotted at such grand slam events. In fact, he was spotted here a couple of days ago for the men’s semi final as well, where he watched Novak Djokovic in action once again. Shock and amusement were the general reactions from tennis fans on Twitter, with one user even saying it’s ‘fiction’!
The only thing @DjokerNole is spreading is good tennis!

Above is one user’s take on what Novak Djokovic could be spreading in Australia by not taking the vaccine. Coming to the final, it was a flawless opening set by the 21-time grand slam champion and 9-time Australian Open champion, winning 6-3 and not putting too many steps wrong either, winning the first set 6-3 and moving one step closer to another title.
