It’s been a packed week for sports bettors around the world with a lot of international cricket accompanied with some Grand Slam action for tennis enthusiasts. The 2021 Australian Open has now reached the business stages with only 4 players left in the each of the men’s and women’s tournaments in Australia. In a couple of days, we will have our champions in each competition!
In the women’s draw, both the semi finals will be played on the same day ie. 18th February 2021. In Semi Final 1, it’s a high-octane clash in Naomi Osaka vs Serena Williams and you can read our betting preview for that game here! Then, we have a rather surprising encounter where seed #25 for this tournament and Czech professional tennis player Karolina Muchova takes the court, attempting to make her first ever Grand Slam final!
On the other hand is USA’s Jennifer Brady who has reached the late stages of tournaments before but she’s yet to claim some silverware herself. In her quarter final game, she was pushed to a tough 3-set finish but in all, she’s had a good tournament. Because of more experience on the circuit, Brady is clear favourite for today’s semi final clash, up at odds of 1.55 with BetWinner!
2021 Australian Open so far
Both players have had similar journeys so far in the 2021 Australian Open and for Muchova, she hadn’t lost a single set in the tournament until her quarter final clash against the top seed Ashleigh Barty. She showed plenty of character in that game to come back and win after losing the first set 1-6, and that’s why we’d bet on her today at odds of 2.51 with BetWinner. Other seeds she knocked out in straight sets were #18 Elise Mertens and #6 Karolina Pliskova.

Brady also hadn’t lost a single set in the tournament until her quarter-final game where the unseeded Jessica Pegula won the first set and threatened to take the game away. We feel Brady hasn’t been tested a lot this tournament with only 2 games against seeded players, one being Pegula and the other being the #28 seed Donna Vekic!
Karolina Muchova vs Jennifer Brady head to head
If you weren’t already convinced about Muchova being a good bet in today’s encounter, let’s take a look at their head to head record. In just a single game so far, Muchova leads 1-0 and we think she can keep the dominance alive. They played once but on clay court, where conditions are super different. That game in Prague in 2019 was in fact a well fought 3-set finish.
