PSL 2025: See Bowler Punching Keeper in Wild Wicket Celebration!

You always want to be careful when excited in life…. and also in cricket. In a recent Pakistan Super League (PSL) game in Multan, we saw an unfortunate incident between a bowler and his wicket-keeper, as the two were celebrating the fall of a wicket. We’re talking about PSL 2025 Match 12 between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars.

Multan Sultans were firmly in the driver’s seat at the halfway stage, after putting on 228/5 in their quota of 20 overs. And during the defence, it was the 19-year old pacer Ubaid Shah who picked up a wicket and went a little crazy celebrating it, injuring his own team’s wicket-keeper in the process.

Ubaid Shah wild celebration hurts teammate

Ubaid is the younger brother of national team player, Naseem Shah. Here, he had a great outing with the ball, picking up the wickets of Fakhar Zaman, Daryl Mitchell, and Sam Billings as he ended up with figures of 3/37 in his 4 overs. He bowled the 15th over which was the third of his spell, picking up the wicket of Billings on the last over, when this incident happened:

The youngster was super pumped with his third wicket of the night, and this one of Billings would prove to be the final nail in the coffin for the Qalandars, who were losing wickets at regular intervals. In his excitement, he went over to his teammates aggressively, and hit his wicket-keeper Usman Khan flush in the head, narrowly missing out on hurting him in the eye.

Usman and Ubaid were trying to high-five each other, but Ubaid went straight in between his keeper’s gloves, and his handed landed on Usman’s face. It was only a few seconds later that Ubaid realised what had happened, and cut his celebration short to make sure his colleague was okay, the latter now lying flat on the floor after taking the hit.

He would’ve been completely startled with that hit, and took a while to recover from the floor. When he finally did, Ubaid was seen trying to hold Usman around the shoulder and say sorry, but the latter was having nothing of it. He pulled out the pacer’s hands on a couple of occasions, in clear displeasure, before the cameras panned away from the duo.

It’s not the first time a celebration has turned ugly in cricket, with Pakistan’s Hasan Ali also injuring his neck once in a wild wicket celebration. For similar updates from the world of cricket and in particular the Pakistan Super League, remember to always keep coming back to ReadScoops.com.
