As a net bowler with the team, he was spotted by captain Rashid Khan and that’s how he was fast-tracked into the Mumbai Indians team for IPL 2025, where he was picked at the most recent mega auction for Rs. 30 Lakh. But little did we know that he’d be a part of the main side in their first game of the season itself.

Prior to 23rd March 2025, Vignesh Puthur’s IPL 2025 record was nothing. However, he was brought on as an impact substitute for the former captain Rohit Sharma, and he made an immediate impact for the side. Vignesh was brought on for a third consecutive over and he picked up another wicket, this one of Deepak Hooda on his debut for the CSK franchise. All three fell int he same fashion, as they tried to take on the young bowler from Malappuram, but ended up getting caught in the outfield.
