MS Dhoni IPL MOM Awards
In his 18 Man of the Match awards in the Indian Premier League, Dhoni has had 15 unbeaten innings, having been dismissed only thrice in these matches. This includes 13 consecutive unbeaten innings that won him MOM awards between IPL 2009 and IPL 2019. This also includes getting two MOM awards against Rajasthan Royals in both home and away fixtures in IPL 2019.

MS Dhoni led the charts for the most Man of the Match awards in the IPL for many years, but he was overtaken by a few players because of a 6-year gap since his last award. This includes Virat Kohli (18 MOMs), Rohit Sharma (19 MOMs), Chris Gayle (22 MOMs), and AB de Villiers (25 MOMs).

One record he does hold however, is the most number of MOM awards as a captain in the Indian Premier League. He had given up the CSK captaincy after winning in IPL 2023, but he resumed as captain once again in IPL 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament with an elbow injury.
It was funny when MS Dhoni was asked in IPL 2025 if he remembers the last time he got an IPL MOM award, and he had no idea. In fact, he was surprised to have won it here too, because he scored only 26(11)*, which was his lowest score in any game where he’s won the Man of the Match in the IPL before.
