Trinidad & Tobago has produced hundreds of great cricketers over the years but not many would be more iconic than the big all-rounder Kieron Pollard. Possibly one of the best T20 cricketers of all-time, he’s smashed hundreds of sixes and while he’s very under-estimated with the ball, he reached a big bowling milestone earlier today.
For a decade and more, Pollard has represented the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League and today, he was in action in Match 42 of IPL 2021 where his team was up against Punjab Kings in Abu Dhabi. He would’ve been a little extra pumped as his opponent’s lineup included a few fellow West Indian cricketers like Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran.

Pollard was handed the ball by captain Rohit Sharma right after the powerplay and Pollard ended up changing the course of the game altogether. the 7th over saw Pollard picking up two wickets for barely any runs, dismissing two of Punjab’s best batsmen in Chris Gayle and their captain, KL Rahul!
When he dismissed Rahul, he looked up to the stands and indicated the numbers 3, 0, 0 with his hands and we later heard on air that he reached the milestone of 300 T20 wickets. He then looked up to the skies and thanked God for this achievement. Usually known for his big hitting, Pollard is now the only batsman to have reached 10,000 T20 runs as well as 300 T20 wickets.
Before the start of this game, Mumbai Indians had lost all three games in the UAE leg of IPL 2021 so far and while the game is on currently, Pollard’s short spell could be a game changing one for Mumbai.
