For all those who don’t already know him:
Name: Kevin Wayne Durant
DOB: 29th September, 1988
Height: 2.06 m (6′ 9″)
Current team: Golden State Warriors, NBA
NBA draft: 2007, Seattle Supersonics
The Cleveland Cavaliers played the Golden State Warriors in the 2017 NBA (National Basketball Association) finals that ended on 13th June 2017, and it was this man Kevin Durant who was the MVP of the NBA Finals, in just his first season with the Warriors.
Since it’s the NBA off-season, a Kevin Durant trip to India was planned and he arrived here in New Delhi earlier today. This trip has been planned to promote the growth of basketball in India; he will be training top Indian prospects at the Indian NBA Academy and is also donating two new basketball courts as a part of the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation.

Durant fans lined up outside Delhi airport awaiting his arrival today (27th July) and he was greeted with chants of ‘MVP, MVP, MVP!’. Later the same night, a welcome party was planned for the champion and that is taking place as I type this out.
Hosted by Abhishek Bachchan, the welcome party has people like Rannvijay Singh, Virender Sehwag, Tanmay Bhatt and many more celebrities on the guest-list. Durant averaged 35.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in the NBA finals and surely deserves this welcome in India.

Durant has visited India for the first time ever and his statement earlier shows that he’s excited to be here. As a part of the #DurantInIndia trip, he will be coaching at the academy in Noida, conducting drills for shooting, passing, dribbling and defensive skills for over 1,000 students as a part of the Reliance Foundation.
We hope this helps the sport of Basketball grow in India, and we expect quite a few super stars like Durant to visit India in the years to come. Keep watching this space for similar Sports Scoops.
