The 2024 ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League happens to be the inaugural edition of a new, global T20 franchise league. After the Champions League T20 started more than a decade ago but was soon abolished, this is the first attempt at having a competition with teams invited from various T20 leagues from around the world.
Guyana is the hosting country and the host team is Guyana Amazon Warriors, with teams also from Bangladesh, England, Australia, and Pakistan. Unlike the Champions League T20, here, none of the teams invited are winning teams in their respective home leagues. Let’s explore further the winners of this competition so far.
Global Super League winners list
Since we mentioned above that the GSL 2024 is the first edition of the tournament, there are no winners in the tournament so far. However, it’s going to be a tough battle in this round robin + finals format in GSL 2024. So far, Victoria, Guyana, and Hampshire began well with a win each, with Victoria topping the table in early days of the tournament.
A total of 11 T20s will be played, all at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, before a winner is announced. The first ever Global Super League winner will go down in history, regardless of whether there will be follow up editions or not. And if there are follow-up editions, we’d love to see teams from South Africa, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and other cricketing nations.
