WATCH: Former Pakistan Captain’s Son in U19 Asia Cup 2024

It’s always a great joy to watch the U-19 circuit kids in action. Especially when you see some former cricketers’ kids playing for their respective countries. Currently, the 2024 ACC U-19 Asia Cup is underway in UAE and we had one more such moment where a former Pakistan captain’s son got into the action, and did well in his campaign opener as well.

Yesterday, 30th Nov 2024 was another famous India vs Pakistan match-up where the U-19 kids got themselves ready to play their respective first games of the tournament. Pakistan batted first and put up 280+ which was always going to be tough to chase on a slower Dubai pitch; their innings was headlined by Shahzaib Khan’s record 159.

Misbah-ul-Haq’s son in action in U-19 Asia Cup 2024

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq is known for many great milestones achieved during his career, including leading his side to the final of the 2007 T20 World Cup against India, where he was unable to get over the line in the final over. Here, his son Faham-ul-Haq was in the limelight and unlike the father, the son is more known for his bowling than his batting.

First look of Faham and he was dismissed for 4(7) with the bat but like we said, his expertise lies more with the ball. When he came on to bowl during the middle of the innings, his lean physique and steady run-up impressed one and all, including the on-air commentators at the time. He bowled well for returns of 2/41 in his eventual quota of 8 overs.

After 2 early wickets, India U-19 was looking to rebuild and Faham-ul-Haq picked up the crucial third wicket of Andre Siddarth, reducing India to 51/3. Later on too, when there was a seeming recovery from the Indian side, Faham struck once again, this time getting Kiran Chormale bowled for a well-constructed 20(30). Here’s a look at his bowling action:

Now while we were deeply impressed with this first look of Faham-ul-Haq, he will surely have to work on his batting because there are plenty of pace options in the current Pakistan national side. On the other hand, many people criticised his selection, only because he’s Misbah’s son and there’s the question of nepotism always lurking around.

Pakistan began on a winning noted against India and it’ll be interesting to see how Faham goes the rest of this tournament. Back home, the 18-year old has played two List A games for Higher Education Commission.
