It’s literally nothing short of a festival right now for football fans as the 2021 Copa America and the UEFA Euro 2020 have collided and there’s so much of international football action taking place daily. Yesterday was another special day where we saw a super special goal being scored in the Scotland vs Czech Republic game at the Euro 2020. Keep reading for all details…
This was supposed to be the tightest game of the tournament so far with both teams seemingly matched on paper and right enough, the ball swung from goal to goal, but eventually, it was Czech Republic that drew first blood. Thanks to a brilliantly placed header from Czech forward Patrik Schick, they took an early 1-0 lead and increased their chance of getting 3 points from this game!

All the football pundits however thought that Scotland could still win or at least draw 1-1 in this game. And yes, they did come out all guns blazing in the second half but they got completely deflated when Schick struck again in the second half; this time however, it was a piece of absolute genius from the striker. He scored from an overhead lob just ahead of the half-line and created a new UEFA Euro Cup record!
You couldn’t blame the Scottish goal-keeper for being way ahead of his line because Scotland was on the offensive. It was just a sheer bit of excellence from Schick who quickly turned around on the counter-attack and sniffed an opportunity in split seconds, and decided to make the lob. The ball bounced behind the Scottish keeper David Marshall, the latter being left tangled in the net as Czech went up 2-0! See here:

The goal would’ve reminded us of a David Beckham like goal from the half-line many years ago. In fact, Schick went on to set a Euro Cup record as he was 50 yards (49.7 meters) out at the time of last contact with the ball, making it the furthest goal in Euro Cup history. The previous best of 38.6 meters came from Germany’s Torsten Frings in Euro 2004.
The Bayer Leverkusen striker won’t forget this day anytime soon and he’ll be a vital member of the side as they progress in this Euro 2020 tournament. For all updates, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com!
