It’s the 96th minute of the FA Cup semi final between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Dele Alli makes a move towards his opponent’s goal but the flag is raised and a free-kick is given to United. They’re leading 2-1 and Alexis Sanchez is substituted out for Marouane Fellaini just to waste a little bit of time. The free-kick is taken and Tottenham get one last attack. It goes out for a goal-kick and the final whistle is blown!
They do it again, Manchester United, coming back from a deficit to win an important game. They were down 0-1 when Dele Alli found the net, but Sanchez equalized in a few minutes, to take the teams into half-time 1-1. They walk out onto the pitch in the second half, play good football and Ander Herrera manages to find the net, to take United ahead 2-1 in the 62nd minute:
- Alli – 11′ ⚽
- Sanchez – 24′ ⚽
- Herrera – 62′ ⚽
The game was fiercely contested between both sides and they were a little too aggressive at times, causing a total of 7 yellow cards to be given out in the match. United were not favourites coming into the game and they would’ve been mighty proud of this win, which has taken them to their 20th FA Cup final, and first one under new manager Jose Mourinho.
However, the outcome is what matters and we know that United is going to the final. Tomorrow, Southampton will take on Chelsea in the second semi final and United will be waiting on the result of that game. A ‘Reds vs Blues’ final will be a real entertainer for the crowds. Stay tuned for 2018 FA Cup updates. The final will take place on 19th May!
