Another season of the Indian Super League (ISL) has begun and this is India’s top football professional league that has grown from strength to strength over the years. It began in 2014 and since then, a short history has been created. And like any other sporting league, records and milestones has been met for both teams as well as individuals.
And if you talk about records in football, goals is something that comes to mind immediately. Yes we know that the defence line and the goal-keepers are also integral part of a football team but the strikers are the ones that take home most of the glory and honour, because they get their teams on the scoreline. Today, we’re going to discuss the best goal-scorers in ISL history.
The Indian Super League rose to fame mostly because the organisers managed to get a number of international names to be a part of the tournament over time. And because of that, a lot of the players on the top ISL goal scorers list are overseas stars itself. Not all of them played from inception till date but managed to make a strong impact in the few years they were active in the ISL.

Topping the ISL goal scorers list is Nigeria’s Bartholomew Ogbeche who has played among the least games on this list, which makes his numbers in this league even more impressive. Playing for Hyderabad FC (also represented Mumbai City FC), he’s one of only two players to have managed 50+ career goals in the tournament, and is one of only four active ISL players on this list.
Behind him is the poster boy of Indian football, Sunil Chhetri. There aren’t many Indian football record lists which he isn’t a part of and is also among one of the highest international goals scorers in the world (among active players), joining the ranks of legendary names like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Spain’s Coro has the highest conversion rate from players on this list, finding the net as many as 48 times, in as low as 57 ISL appearances between 2017-2020. His goal conversion ratio was an insane 0.84% and he later moved on to Spanish club Atlético Baleares after his ISL stint with FC Goa.
