Just days after coming out of surgery, one of the all-time football greats of the world has unfortunately passed away. Millions of fans around the world were wondering whether this could’ve actually been a hoax but no, it has been confirmed that Argentinian legend and one of the greatest footballers ever, Diego Maradona, has indeed passed away.
Very recently, Maradona was released from hospital after a surgery because of a blood clot between his membrane and brain. The surgery was successful but it was today, Wednesday 25 November that he was confirmed to have passed away due to a cardiac arrest. Regarded as one of the best in the world, Maradona helped Argentina win the 1986 FIFA World Cup, which was one of the highlights of his very illustrious career!

Adored across the world for impeccable football skills, Maradona played for sporting clubs like Napoli, Boca Juniors and even Barcelona while another highlight of his career was the infamous ‘Hand of God’ which helped them go on to win the 1986 World Cup. Diego Maradona’s death will be mourned by millions in Argentina and across the world, coming just a few days after being operated for subdural hematoma.
While he was one of the greatest in the world, it was common knowledge that Maradona suffered from alcohol and drug abuse and when he was discharged from a Buenos Aires hospital earlier this month, his doctor, neurologist Leopoldo Luque, confirmed that an accident could’ve led to the blood clotting.
Maradona is believed to have been living in a house near his older daughters and after being discharged, his lawyer Matias Morla confirmed that he will continue his treatment for alcohol dependency. It was only 30 October 2020 that Maradona celebrated his 60th birthday but alas, he couldn’t send too many more days in good health post that celebration!
