In case you were tuning in to watch the first ever game of the inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10, don’t worry because you’re not alone. However, like thousands of others around the world, you may have been disappointed because there was no live action at the scheduled time (10:30pm IST), apart from the 2023 Zim Afro T10 opening ceremony.
We did a little bit of digging and got to know that the tournament has not been cancelled or postponed, so don’t worry about that. It’s just unfortunately had to push the opening match by a single day, from 20th July 2023 to 21st July 2023, a delay caused due to the delayed installation of floodlights at the Harare Sports Club, where all the 24 games on the schedule will be played.
Zim Afro T10 2023 delayed by one day
There’s no further information available right now, as there’s no official announcement or post from the Zim Afro T10 official website or pages on social media either. Even on leading sports live scores websites, a single line of the floodlights installation has been mentioned. We hope this is a true reason and there’s no underlying political agenda behind it.
We’re saying so because Zimbabwe Cricket has always been haunted by politics and lack of the right system and infrastructure to let their youngster grow. Always producing some of the best talent, Zimbabwe cricketers tend to lose their way and historically, many of them have retired under suspicious circumstances. However, we hope all is well in the T10 league, which now kicks off 24 hours later than planned.

Assuming all is good here though in Harare, we’ll be good to watch the opening game of the competition take place tomorrow, 21st July 2023. Quite a few international stars from across the world are participating, including some of your favourite retired Indian cricketers like Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Sreesanth, Stuart Binny, and others.
“I can now confirm that this is correct. The installation of lights at Harare Sports Club is incomplete thus tonight’s opening game of the ZimAfro T10 cannot go ahead,” confirmed Adam Theo, a sports journalist, on Twitter. Tomorrow, the first game will take place between Harare Hurricanes and Bulawayo Braves.
