It is said that Yuvraj was doing an Instagram Live session when the topic came up about leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and his TikTok dance videos which he used to create during the 2020 coronavirus lockdown. He was arrested under section 153A and section 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) but the Punjab & Haryana High Court ordered Haryana Police to release the former cricketer on bail.

The Punjab and Haryana HC mentioned that Haryana Police is seeking a ‘formal arrest’ of Yuvraj Singh. Here, if the investigating officer arrests Yuvraj after he joins the probe, he would be released on interim bail, albeit after furnishing bail and surety bonds.  On 10 Oct, the HC asked Yuvi to appear before Haryana police and the matter has now been adjourned for hearing on 18 Nov.

Just to let you know, this isn’t a new case but in fact, the incident took place in April 2020. He was booked later in 2021 for ‘objectionable remarks’ against a particular caste (Dalits). The 2011 World Cup ‘Man of the Tournament’ was booked under sections 153, 153(a), 505, 295 of the IPC. He immediately expressed regret on his social media after he got flak for the same, but clearly, some people didn’t let it go!

“This is to clarify that I have never believed in any kind of disparity, be it on the basis of caste, colour, creed or gender. I have given and continue to spend my life for the welfare of people. I believe in the dignity of life and respect each individual without exception. I understand that while I was having a conversation with my friends, I was misunderstood, which was unwarranted. However, as a responsible Indian I want to say that I have unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments or feelings, I would like to express regrets for the same. My love for India and all its people is eternal”
