The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was incepted way back in 2009 and since then, there have been nine editions hosted over the years, in multiple countries across the world. Across these editions, we’ve seen many bowlers who have got into the limelight, for economical spells, hat-tricks, 4-fers, and even 5-fers in some cases.
Here on this page on Read Scoops, we’re going to run you through the leading wicket-taking bowlers right through the history of this competition. While Australia has dominated this tournament, winning 6 out of 8 tournaments completed so far, individually, quite a few countries have representation on this Women’s T20 World Cup leading wicket-takers list.
South Africa’s Shabnim Ismail was leading this list for quite a while until Australia’s first match in the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE. Here, Australia’s Megan Schutt picked up a few wickets to equal Ismail on this list, but she takes the top rank because of fewer games played. And considering she has the whole tournament left, she’s likely to build a lead between her and the rest on this list.

Ismail and England’s Anya Shrubsole follow Schutt here, but they’re both now retired from international cricket. See below for our complete ICC Women’s T20 World Cup most wickets list, last updated as of 5th October 2024, during the starting phase of the 2024 edition taking place in UAE:
