It’s never easy to pick up a hat-trick in cricket, because you should be good enough to beat three batsmen in three consecutive deliveries. With the nature of the T20 game and teams always wanting to be attacking in nature, hat-tricks do tend to take place every now and then, much like we’ve seen in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) T20 competition too.
The tournament is still in its nascent stage with the first edition taking place in 2023, and Mumbai Indians W being crowned champions in that season. There was a hat-trick picked up towards the end of the first WPL T20 season itself and here on this page, we’ve put together a complete WPL T20 hat-tricks list, from the first season till date.
The WPL 2023 season was almost coming to an end when the first WPL hat-trick was picked up, in the all-important Eliminator game between Mumbai Indians W and UP Warriorz W. England’s Issy Wong went down in history to become the first bowler to get a WPL hat-trick, doing so while MI-W were defending their first innings score of 182/4 in that game.

A few bowlers have been on a hat-trick but no one has picked up a WPL hat-trick after Issy Wong yet, last updated 24th February 2024, at the start of the WPL 2024 season in India. Like we mentioned above, hat-tricks don’t come along easy and a huge majority of bowlers (international as well as domestic) go through their careers without ever picking up a hat-trick. However, there are bound to be more entries in the WPL hattricks list as the tournament grows over the years and seasons, which we’ll update here accordingly.
Some of the leading bowlers in this tournament include Sophie Ecclestone, Amelia Kerr, Hayley Matthews, Wong herself, Saika Ishaque, and others. Each of them are highly talented bowlers and we won’t be surprised in some of them manage to make their way into the TATA WPL hattricks list in time to come.
