The Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is known to be a pioneer in women’s T20 franchise cricket across the globe because they were the first to host a women’s T20 league at a global scale, and do it well too. Sure, it may not have such a long history as yet but in the seven seasons played out so far, a lot of records have tumbled and several leaps and strides have been made too.
Of course, the men may have played much more games and a few more seasons than the women in this tournament but you’ll be super surprised to know that the top three leading WBBL run scorers have more career runs in this tournament than the highest run scorer in the men’s Big Bash League. Good sign for the women’s game, isn’t it?!
Today we’re going to list down the top batters in the Women’s Big Bash League history, from the first season in 2015/16 till date. Since WBBL has a very short history till now, all of the players on the top 10 WBBL run scorers list have played since inception till present. And before we talk about these top run scorers, you can even check out our list of all WBBL winners till date.

Leading this WBBL run scorers list is none other than Beth Mooney who not only has the most runs in WBBL history but is also the only player to win the Player of the Match award in two separate WBBL finals. See below for our complete WBBL run scorers list (updated as of 14th November 2022), which was last updated towards the end of the WBBL|08 season or the WBBL 2022/23 season.
Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) – most runs list
Batter | Matches | Runs | Teams | High Score |
Beth Mooney | 115 | 4,105 | Brisbane Heat, Perth Scorchers | 102 |
Ellyse Perry | 107 | 3,635 | Sydney Sixers | 103* |
Sophie Devine | 104 | 3,207 | Adelaide Strikers, Perth Scorchers | 103* |
Elyse Villani | 109 | 3,019 | Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers | 100* |
Alyssa Healy | 111 | 2,941 | Sydney Sixers | 112* |
Meg Lanning | 78 | 2,725 | Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers | 101 |
Mignon du Preez | 88 | 2,112 | Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Stars | 88 |
Rachael Haynes | 96 | 2,107 | Sydney Thunder | 78* |
Ashleigh Gardner | 107 | 2,070 | Sydney Sixers | 114 |
Georgia Redmayne | 95 | 2,061 | Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Perth Scorchers | 98* |
Another point to be noted is that Mooney’s tally of 36 fifties in her WBBL career is not only the highest on this list but is again, higher than anyone on the men’s BBL list as well. In terms of centuries, seven of the top 10 WBBL run scorers have got centuries to their names, with Alyssa Healy holding the record for most number of WBBL centuries – scoring five centuries in 111 WBBL career games so far.
While Mooney and Meg Lanning have been exceptional and have batting averages in the forties (which is great for T20 cricket), one player has impressed the world with her WBBL stats and that’s Ellyse Perry who has 3,000+ runs with the bat and scores runs in this tournament at a staggering batting average of 50.16, before the start of WBBL 2022/23.
