Cricket never fails to surprise us and amidst all the surprises we see every day in the sport, we recently saw one of the deadliest left-arm pacers in recent years bowling slow, left-arm orthodox. We’re talking about the fiery former Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz who was today spotted bowling spin in a T10 competition in USA.
The ongoing tournament is the National Cricket League T10 which is taking place at the University of Texas Dallas Cricket Stadium. Here, today’s game was that of Chicago CC vs Texas Gladiators CC. Chicago batted first in this NCL T10 game and openers Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa decided to entertain the crowd with a barrage of sixes.
Wahab Riaz spotted bowling spin at Sixty Strikes T10
Amidst all the carnage, Wahab Riaz decided to move away from his traditional, dangerous left-arm pacers. He opted to bowl some lazy slower balls in today’s spell and he was hit to all parts of the ground because of that decision. Captaining the Texas side today, Riaz wouldn’t have been too happy with his performance, as Robbie and Lynn took him apart.
All his career, we’ve been sued to watching him threaten batsmen with pace-on deliveries and often, deadly bouncers. Today however, he looked easy to hit as he was smashed for 34 runs in his spell of 2 overs, obviously unable to pick up any wickets during that spell either. Not the Wahab we’ve been used to seeing over the years!

The NCL T10 tournament began on 3rd Oct 2024 and is also known as the Sixty Strikes T10 competition. The organisers vow to revolutionize the game of cricket in America, and this has been a fabulous start to that initiative. Eventually, the Chicago CC side had a day in the sun as they played expansive shots right through their quota of 10 overs.
They ended up with 173/2 in their 10 overs thanks to big, big hitting especially from Lynn and Uthappa. The duo put up 14 sixes together while Mikyle Louis at the rear end hit 34(10)* to give them the required impetus to end the innings. Great entertainment, if you were watching this match today on FanCode.
It was the highest total of NCL T10 in its short history so far, but we’re sure this is just the beginning of the fun in this competition. For similar updates from National Cricket League T10 in USA, and other cricketing events from around the world, remember to always stay tuned to ReadScoops.com.
