Every now and then, the game of cricket keeps surprising us. New and exciting formats keep coming to the fore and once again, we have an innovative format being introduced. A few months back, something new called 3-Team Cricket was introduced where three teams go head to head in a single game broken into different innings.
Now, get set for the Ultimate Kricket Challenge 2020 which promises some of the most exciting moments, as legends of the game (both retired and current players) go head to head. This novel shortened format will kick off in Dubai today and it’s going to be something that’ll be etched in our memories for a few months to come, because of the big names involved.
UKC 2020 will see some of the biggest superstars in the sport going head to head. Some of them include English captain Eoin Morgan, all-rounder Andre Russell, spin wizard Rashid Khan, the Universe Boss Chris Gayle, former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and Kevin Pietersen. They’re all set to redefine this team sport into a single person one!

With Rashid in Australia for the 2020 Big Bash League, we’re not too sure how he’s going to be a part of the action. Ultimate Kricket Challenge Rules
Now, let’s run you through the rules of the Ultimate Kricket Challenge 2020. It’s going to be a head-to-head format which will see players playing 4 innings of 15-balls each. The 30-ball match format will see the player with more runs at the end of the game getting 2 points each towards the league standings.
A UKC Contender (also called Gladiator) must bowl minimum 8 balls per innings while a sub player (also called Ace) can bowl a maximum of 7 balls per innings. The games will take place within a dome (first time in cricket) and every players will be assisted by one wicket-keeper and one fielder.
While batting, a Contender can get runs only by completing physical runs. A batter who hits the Bullseye (behind the bowler) gets 12 runs plus gets an extra ball to play. There are multiple such Bullseyes – those on the square of the wicket will fetch 4 runs while for every dismissal, 5 runs will be deducted from the player’s total.
UKC 2020 Scoring Rules
Scoring is divided in to 6 scoring zones:
- Zone A – 1 run
- Zone B- 1 run
- Zone C – 2 runs
- Zone D – 3 runs
- Zone E – 4 runs (with a bounce)
- Zone E – 6 runs (direct)
The tournament kicks off with a contest between Eoin Morgan and Kevin Pietersen on 24th December at 9:30pm. Post that, there will be one such match between these legends of the game daily the world.
