We all know that the different social media platforms of today have various algorithms that are being used to spread content, posts, tweets and more to users and their respective news feeds. And to let their users know which accounts of celebrities are the official accounts, there’s the concept of ‘blue tick’ which signifies a verified and official account of any particular person or celebrity!
Today, Twitter amused one and all when they decided to take off the verified blue tick badge from former Indian captain, MS Dhoni’s Twitter handle. ‘Captain Cool’ as we call him has 8+ million followers on Twitter and we at Read Scoops are one of them as well. Surely, this wasn’t going to go unnoticed by his die-hard followers.
Possibly the most loved Indian cricketer and captain, Dhoni has led India to several new heights which haven’t been achieved before, including a 50-over World Cup, a T20 World Cup and an ICC Champions Trophy victory. However, Twitter seems to be unaware of these achievements as they got rid of his blue tick on Friday, 6th August 2021.

But you’re probably wondering, why did Twitter get rid of his blue tick? We aren’t 100% sure as yet but we can assume that it’s because Dhoni isn’t super active on social media. His last tweet came on 8th January which was nearly 7 months ago, while that was also the date of his last post on Instagram, where he has 34+ million followers.
We can safely speculate that this was the reason for the removal of the blue tick but it was quick to be rectified as well. We’re sure MS Dhoni’s social media team was quick to reach out to someone from Twitter and let them know about this mistake. The blue tick was reinstated and knowing what kind of a personality MSD is, he may not even bother to tweet anytime soon to abide by the social media platform’s rules.
