After years of waiting, we’ve reached that moment where an international final will be played in the longest format of the game. Never before has there been an ICC final in Test Cricket and two of the top teams have made it to the final, which is set to be played at Southampton in England, staring on 18th June 2021.
Team India is one of the teams to have made the final and they thoroughly deserved it, getting brilliant series wins at home as well as in Australia earlier this year. However, there’s their longest format nemesis in New Zealand that they will face off in the WTC 2021 final and it’s not going to be an easy match, by any stretch of imagination.
The Kiwi players have had some vital practice in England, beating the hosts 1-0 very recently while India has not got any games in England except for an intra-squad practice game. New Zealand is a team you don’t want to mess with and today, Read Scoops is listing down 3 of the biggest threats New Zealand will pose to India in this WTC Final!

1) Neil Wagner
With a seam attack that boasts of Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry and more, not many will be considering Neil Wagner as the biggest threat. However, with 226 wickets in 53 Tests, he has been one of their unsung heroes over the years. He’s specially known for his short pitched bowling and considering Indians are known for having an issue with the short ball, he could rip through the Indian batting lineup before we know it!
2) Devon Conway
A few months ago, not many of you would’ve even known this left-handed top order batsman. However, his impeccable form in the domestic circuit led to him being picked in the national side and he hasn’t disappointed there either. He’s been brilliant in all three forms of the game and most recently, he made his Test debut and broke all sorts of records with a double century on debut. He followed it up with a score of 80-odd in the 2nd Test and will be one to watch out for in this final.
3) Kane Williamson
We have no words to describe this man. He has performed at every occasion and in every format. He has plenty of experience playing IPL over the years, so playing the Indian spinners won’t be a hassle as we plays spin exquisitely. India won’t have great memories of that ICC 2019 World Cup semi final where they lost to New Zealand and if our memory serves us right, Kane Williamson scored a match-winning 67 in that game too.He missed the 2nd Test against England due to injury and we don’t know if he’s 100% fit!
