England’s premier T20 tournament has a very rich history ever since it kicked off for the first time back in 2003. Since then, we’ve seen a lot of batting and bowling records tumbling over the years at the England T20 Blast. And while there have been some scintillating individual performances, only the best manage to remain consistent over the years, etching their name into the tournament’s history books.
T20 Blast most runs list
Here, we’re going to visit a batting record in this competition’s history. Topping the T20 Blast most runs list is Luke Wright who has 5,026 runs in 180 career games between 2004-2022. He played all his career for Sussex and has been their most loyal servant with 30 fifties and 5 centuries to his name including a best of 153* which remains one of the best knocks in T20 Blast history.
Quite a few T20 Blast icons feature among the top run scorers in this tournament. Here, Read Scoops has put down a list of the T20 Blast top 10 run scorers, updated as of 8th May 2023, before the start of the 2023 Vitality Blast season. The league never had an official window from ICC, so international fixtures continued and that’s why most players on the list are Englishmen itself. See the full list below:

Jason Roy | Surrey | 2008-2022 | 3,603 (123) | 122* |
Second on the list is James Vince and there’s no need to go on about how good he has been for Hampshire over the years at the T20 Blast. He was the latest to join the tournament from the T20 Blast top 10 run scorers but he still managed to get on top, and it won’t be long before he overtakes the table topper Luke Wright, who become the first to 5,000 T20 Blast career runs in the 2022 season.

In terms of averages, Vince is at the top once again with a batting average of 34+ in the T20 Blast, while also holding the record for the most number of fifties scored, with 33 fifties to his name. In terms of centuries, Wright has the record for most of them from those on this list, with 5 hundreds to his name. However, Australia’s Michael Klinger scored 7 centuries in his short stint of 88 matches here.
Narrowly missing out on the list is Josh Cobb and Adam Lyth and it won’t be too long before they enter the top 10 T20 Blast run scorers list either, since both are still in the prime of their respective careers. While there are no overseas players on this list, Klinger was one of the best overseas pros at the T20 Blast over the years, with 2,949 runs in his 88 games in this leading England T20 competition.
We’re making a special mention here for Samit Patel who is in fact is on top of the T20 Blast leading bowlers list in this tournament’s history as well. For more updates on the best batsmen and the overall T20 Blast tournament in England, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com…
