Easily one of the most entertaining and exciting (apart from unique) formats of the game of cricket so far, The Hundred is one tournament everyone looks forward to on the cricketing calendar now. This is for multiple reasons, the major one being that it’s a format not used in any other tournament currently, where each innings is of 100 balls, and bowlers bowl in sets of 5 or 10 balls each, as compared to the traditional 6-ball over.
Here, there’s more fun to be had because the men’s and women’s competitions take place during the same period, and the franchises are the same as well. Launched in 2021, the events sees international stars from different countries taking part each year. Still having a short history, we’re going to talk about past winners of The Hundred, both men’s as well as women’s.
The eight franchises playing The Hundred include Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave, Trent Rockets, and Welsh Fire. The men and the women both share the same home grounds as well as fixtures in this tournament.
From these eight teams, we have to say that Oval Invincibles has to be the best and most successful team (men and women combined) in The Hundred because they have won both the men’s and women’s competitions on two occasions each, winning the men’s finals in 2023 and 2024, and the women’s finals in 2021 and 2022. The Hundred winners list (Men’s)
Southern Brave started as one of the top teams in The Hundred, finishing as runner-up twice in the first two seasons in the women’s competition, and winning The Hundred inaugural men’s trophy. They beat Birmingham Phoenix by 32 runs to win The Hundred 2021 final, and then saw no further success, until a runner-up finish in 2024.

The same can be said for the Phoenix, who never made another final after that inaugural one in 2021. Other teams to have won the men’s tournament include Trent Rockets in 2022, and then back-to-back victories for Oval Invincibles in 2023 and 2024. They go into The Hundred 2025 as a strong favourite to complete a winning hat-trick.
The Hundred winners (Women’s)
While Oval Invincibles won in two consecutive seasons in the men’s game between 2023 and 2024, they won the first two editions of The Hundred Women, in 2021 and 2022. The common factor in both these finals was that the runner-up was Southern Brave in both; Invincibles won in 2021 by 48 runs, and then by 5 wickets in the 2022 final.

However, they haven’t seen success in this tournament after those two initial years, having not even made another final. In 2023, Southern Brave Women finally went on to get their first title after two lost finals. In 2024, London Spirit Women beat Welsh Fire Women by 4 wickets to secure their first title as well.
