The Hundred - All Winners Till Date (Men+Women)

Easily one of the most entertaining and exciting (apart from unique) formats of the game of cricket so far, The Hundred is one tournament every looks forward to on the cricketing calendar now. This is for multiple reasons, the major being it’s a format not used in any other tournament right through the year, where each innings is of 100 balls, and bowlers bowl in sets of 5 or 10 balls each.

Here, there’s more fun to be had because the men’s and women’s competitions take place together, and the franchises are the same as well. Launched in 2021, the events sees international stars from different countries taking part each year. Still a short history, we’re going to talk about past winners of The Hundred, both men’s as well as women’s.

The eight franchises playing The Hundred include Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave, Trent Rockets, and Welsh Fire. The men and the women both share the same home grounds as well as fixtures in this tournament.

From these eight teams, we have to say that Southern Brave has to be the best and most successful team (men and women combined) in The Hundred because they reached the final of both the competitions in the inaugural year, winning the men’s final and losing the women’s final. Here’s our list of all The Hundred winners till date (Updated as of 28th July 2022)…

List of The Hundred (Men’s) winners

Winning 5 of their 8 games in the round robin stage and finishing second on the points table of The Hundred (Men’s) 2021, Southern Brave ended as the winner, beating Trent Rockets by 7 wickets in the Eliminator and then going on to beat Birmingham Phoenix by 32 runs in the men’s 2021 final.

Birmingham Phoenix won the toss and elected to field in the final and Brave put up 168/5 in their 100 balls. They defended it with ease really, restricting Birmingham to 136/5. Here, Paul Stirling was awarded the Man of the Match for his knock of 61(36) while Tymal Mills was the pick of the bowlers for Brave.

List of The Hundred (Women’s) winners

Southern Brave Women topped the points table after the round robin and Oval Invincibles Women finished 2nd with 4 wins in their 8 games in the season. Much like the men’s result, the second placed team went on to win the Eliminator (they beat Birmingham Phoenix Women by 20 runs) before going on to win the final as well.

Here, Southern Brave won the toss and elected to field and Oval put up 121/6 in their 100 balls, later managing to defend that total and bowl out Brave for just 73 runs in 98 balls. Marizanne Kapp was the player of the match for her 26(14) with the bat and then the match-winning bowling performance of 4/19 in her 18 balls. Oval Women won the final in 2021 by a whopping 48 runs.
