The longest format of the game of cricket has often been considered the most challenging and the ultimate test of skill and talent. Hence, the name given to this format was TEST Cricket. Those who have done well in this format have gone down in the history books of international cricket and here on this page, we’ll talk about this format.
In particular, we’ll discuss each time there’s been a Test hat-trick taken by bowlers. For those who don’t know, wickets off three consecutive deliveries to the bowler, is considered a hat-trick. While batsmen try to hit the ball in shorter formats, hat-tricks are more common there. So, Test hat-tricks are less frequent, but considered bigger achievements for sure.

The international cricketing calendar wasn’t as packed as it is today when the game begin more than a century ago. Now, there’s a lot more participating countries but the longest gap between two entries into the Test hat-tricks list is 19 years, between Tom Goddard (1938) and Peter Loader (1957), both representing England.
Among the most noteworthy Test hat-tricks has to be the couple of hat-tricks by Jimmy Matthews, in the SAME TEST! On 28 May 1912, he picked up a hat-trick twice, as South Africa’s Tommy Ward was the third victim in both those hat-tricks. Those who have been a hat-trick victim and also got their own Test hat-trick include Australia’s Shane Warne and England’s Stuart Broad.
