T20 Blast - List of Players With 5,000 Runs

The English T20 Blast has been around for quite a few years and a bunch of cricketers have put their names down in the history books of the competition as well. With the bat, only a few players have managed to have long, sustaining careers in the T20 Blast, allowing them to pass certain milestones with both bat as well as ball.

Because the tournament doesn’t have an international window, those with long international careers haven’t gone the distance here in terms of records. With the bat, only a handful of players have managed to scale the 5,000-run barrier with Sussex’s Luke Wright becoming the first to do so in his final season in the competition in 2022.

List of players with 5,000 T20 Blast runs

Wright planned his retirement from the competition in the right way, just getting across the 5,000-run milestone, ending with 5,026 runs in his T20 Blast career. He played his entire career for Sussex and smashed 5 centuries to go with 30 fifties as well. Going forward, he’s likely to be replaced on the T20 Blast most runs list, but he’ll always be remembered as the first to get to the 5k mark.

With scores of 1 and 88* in the first couple of games of T20 Blast 2023, Vince took his tally up to 4,966 runs and is sure to be the second person to make the list. Joe Denly is the third on the list and no one is close to them as of now. Both of Wright and Vince have played their entire T20 Blast careers for a single franchise, while Denly has played for Kent and Middlesex during his time in this tournament. Quite a few younger players have been consistently scoring over the years and we’re sure there are going to be many more players joining this list in the years to come.

Steven Croft, Alex Hales, Riki Wessels, Ravi Bopara, and Samit Patel are the only other batsmen in the tournament to have crossed the 4,000-run mark, and a couple of them can get to 5k as well. As the T20 format is evolving, team totals are increasing and big scores are being made by batsmen, so many more will join this T20 Blast 5k runs list soon.
