There have been a number of success stories over the years of batsmen coming out of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Most of those who perform in this tournament end up getting contracts at the Indian Premier League (IPL) while some have even gone on to play for the national side, so it’s turned out to be a very important tournament on the annual BCCI domestic cricket calendar.
T20 has almost always been a batsman’s format and here too, quite a few names have emerged as leaders over the years. Scoring runs over a single season is fine but being among the top scorers of the tournament’s history is a massive achievement and even though this tournament has a smaller history than other Indian domestic leagues, we’re still going to speak about the SMAT T20 leading run scorers on this page.
We’re listing down the top 10 run scorers in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history, right from inception till date. Since the tournament has a small history, most of them on this list have been a part of the competition from start till date. Before we get into the tournament’s complete run scorers list over the years, you can also check out our complete SMAT winners list here, with Tamil Nadu being the most successful side.
