WATCH: Sunil Chhetri Trains With RCB Team

Yesterday, the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) took off with Gujarat Titans taking on and eventually beating Chennai Super Kings in Match 1. This morning, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) social media team was pretty active as they’ve always been over the years, putting up a very special video and some few images as well.

RCB has been a strong promoter of cross-culture in sports and yesterday, Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri spent the evening chilling with and even training with the RCB boys. Chhetri has been a leader in Indian football and he had a good time chatting with the RCB players and support staff, talking cricket and being a part of their practice drills as well.

Chhetri is not just the poster boy of Indian football but he’s been making a name for himself on the international stage too, standing tall with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the most number of international goals from current players. The FC Bengaluru captain in the Indian Super League (ISL) had a great season, losing to ATK Mohun Bagan in the ISL 2022/23 final in March 2023.

Now, there’s plenty of rumours about whether or not Chhetri will be the new signing for RCB in IPL 2023 (just kidding). He’s been a stark follower of the RCB cricket team and he mentions it in an interview in the same video posted by the RCB social media team. He talks about his history with Bangalore and a great rapport he shares with former RCB captain Virat Kohli over the years.

“Cross culture of sports! Indian football captain and legend Sunil Chhetri dropped by at the Chinnaswamy to watch RCB practice, and spent time with Virat Kohli and the boys. @chetrisunil11’s fielding skills are 🔥 #PlayBold #ನಮ್ಮRCB #IPL2023” was the caption with which RCB uploaded the video of Chhetri’s day out with RCB. The video included a lot of catching practice, and some amazing fielding skills by Chhetri.

He mentioned how he doesn’t need to motivate the RCB players because they don’t lack motivation, and that his trip to the Chinnaswamy was more for his own sake than the team’s. He also spoke about Virat Kohli and said that a lot of people may not know this but Kohli is hilarious, and their conversations are mostly about sport when they do meet and catch up.
