Legends League Cricket (LLC) has been a great new innovation, bringing to fans their favourite retired players from around the world. Recently, LLC Season 3 came to an end with the Southern Superstars winning a thrilling super over against the Konark Suryas Odisha, the latter being led by former all-rounder Irfan Pathan.
While the Superstars were ahead right through the game, Yusuf Pathan turned the match around with the best score in an LLC final, scoring 85(38) in the final but not managing to get the team across the line. They needed 35 runs in 12 balls at one stage and after getting the equation to 2 runs off the final ball, Yusuf was run out to tie the match and take it to a super over.
Southern Superstars win LLC 2024 final
In the super over, the Pathan brothers came out and scored 13/1 in 6 balls and in the reply, Martin Guptill from the Superstars came out and hit two consecutive sixes to begin the chase. Guptill has been a part of super overs in the past, including the 2019 ODI World Cup final, so he knew exactly what was needed to be done.

Diwesh Pathania was the bowler and he bowled Guptill off the third ball, with SSS now needing 2 runs in the final 3 balls. The duo of Pawan Negi and Chirag Gandhi took a single each to finish it off, with a ball to spare. It was later revealed that Guptill threw his pads into the crowd after the 1st innings, and had to wear Hamilton Masakadza’s pads in the super over.

Guptill would’ve had memories of the 2019 CWC final where he couldn’t get his team across the line. But there weren’t any such issues today as he scored 12(3) in the super over and Southern Superstars became the LLC 2024 winners. Guptill ended as the top scorer of the LLC Season 3 tournament, getting 300+ runs in 9 matches this season.

A fabulous season comes to an end and now, everyone will have their eyes on the LLCTen10 season which will become the first 10-over edition of the Legends League Cricket competition. Interestingly, the general public can also apply to be a part of the tournament and play alongside legends.
